Inspirations
Ben Ng:
Bubble tea can be an art piece if decorating and combining properly with the base of the tea and the variation of fruit and other flavor . Eg. Passion Fruit Honey Green Tea (Chinese style) and Mango Slush with Sweetened White Glutinous Rice and Coconut Milk Lid Topping(Thai style)
Evie:
I’m inspired by multiculturalism and inclusivity. But also my Asian roots, I’d love to work with you guys to come up with drinks that represents people’s backgrounds and childhood loves.
Kate:
Lavender milk tea with lavender tapioca! Every year during summer, my family and I would visit lavender fields! Ever since my first trip there, I’ve been obsessed with the looks, scent and taste! The people around me love it just as much as I do, I think it’d be a pretty unique drink!
Fiona L:
Mango green tea with honey sweetener and grass jelly!! It’s natural sweetness and flavour!
Susanna Chen:
My mom and my family
Durian Banana Smoothie
Vanessa M:
Strawberry banana yakult:
I was actually inspired by yang’s mango tea slush which reminded me of real fruit’s regular mango slush. This then reminded me of their strawberry banana smoothie which is also a very popular drink. However, a strawberry banana slush has been done before so I was thinking to add a shot of yakult and tea because yang’s is a teashop and it would be a unique twist.
So my idea for a new drink would be a strawberry banana yakult tea slush. In terms of a recipe it could be made with a strawberry banana syrup (I believe there is a brand called oasis that makes this), ice, yakult, green or white tea. 🙂
Austin Falconer:
Peach Bubbly: Peach oolong base combined honey for extra sweetness, inspired by fine champagne. Toppings include tapioca and coconut jelly (Edible glitter/flakes optional ^.^).
Ariette:
My inspiration comes from the beauty of the sky with the clouds. The drink is a naturally blueberry and other berry smoothie / fruit based milk tea (good for the brain) with a Salted creamy foam to top it off.
Kerrie Cheung:
As a child and an immigrant to Canada, my inspirations were my parents, who ultimately left their very comfortable jobs in Hong Kong and headed for Canada to provide a better life for myself and my siblings. Growing up, I met a very inspirational teacher in high school, who encouraged me to take the risk and delve into my passion — which was becoming an educator. Entering into the teaching profession at the age of 26, my inspirations were the students who sat in front of me every single day. They’ve taught me the importance of preserving your inner child, and that it’s okay to make mistakes. Fast forward 9 years, and now 35, I am a new mom (baby Emmett is only 2 weeks old) and my inspiration is my baby. He has taught me a new meaning to the word ‘love’, and ‘sacrifice’. Parents sacrifice so much of themselves each and every day — and now I truly understand the sacrifices my parents made for me as their child.
Fee:
I got inspired by frappuchino drinks, since the store only have fruit slushies, I decided to come up with caramel frappuchino that can be served to foreign customers.
Camela S.:
My friends inspire me. We all come from different backgrounds and experiences, meaning each of us can contribute a different perspective to a situation. We can easily get through anything because we can bounce off each other’s experiences and lessons. Also, dang, I’ve never been a part of a group of friends who are such ride or dies. I love them so much.
That being said, a pineapple yakult bubble tea with a touch of maple syrup and scoops of aloe and tapioca seems like an appropriate mix of my friend’s favourites!
Erin Xie:
Strawberry cake milk tea. The perfect balance of sweet and tartness of strawberries and the rich and creamy cake flavors inspired me to suggest this classic drink. A classic is classy for a reason – it’s delicious and meets customers’ demands.
Miranda:
Crème Brûlée
This drink would be the perfect indulgence on a cold November day.
Winnie:
Banana pineapple chocolate strawberry (banana split)
Vivian:

Tracy:

Tanya Tyagi:

Victor Nguyen:
I draw my inspiration from my significant other because although what I expressed to him, my past, my current predicament, and future dreams did not look too pleasant, he told me that no matter how troubled your past or how grand your future dreams may be, it will work out and your past brought you to where you are now for a reason.
What I can take away from his words is to never give up because you will end up where you want to eventually, it could take years. Secondly, I realized that if no one is willing to support you, always push Yourself, because by the end of the day, it all comes down to ourselves.
Lastly, my boyfriend told me, ‘To be a better version of yourself.’ I am forever inspired by his words and the love, support he has and will offer.

The smell of fresh tea and cooking tapioca pearls.
Charlene Z:
Myself. It’s as simple as that. I know that might sound a little crazy but it’s true. Over the years I’ve learned how important it is to ‘self-love.’ I wake up everyday being thankful to be alive and remind myself to continue to motivate and inspire myself to get to where I want to be in life.
Vanessa:
Definitely a rich milky flavour, cookies and cream, taro, coconut jelly/tapioca pearls, and a hint of tropical fruit, like passionfruit, litchi or dragonfruit
Lynne c:
50 shades of earl grey
Diana Sutandie:
My inspiration comes from the people around me.
Some people may not be as fortunate as we are, in the aspects of getting education that they want, loving family, support from friends or even just sense that you belong in a group.
Even though they might not be as fortunate as us, some people work really hard towards their calling, their passion and goals.
I am still trying to find my calling in this life, but I am grateful to have a lot of inpiration around me.
Kymberly Litman:

Amaryllis Jones:
I recently started volunteering with the Region of Peel Police’s FREE tutoring program called ASPIRE, which focuses on educating at risk and underprivileged youth. I currently supervise a site where high school students dedicate their time to bettering the lives of students from Kindergarten-Grade 6. I am inspired by their willingness to help others in a society where people can be so self-absorbed. The thought of this makes me happy and motivated me to continue volunteering as the Site Coordinator to ensure that the program can continue every week! These students are the stars in my sky and inspire me to be the best that I can be as a role model for others and young, professional leader.
Bloodeh?:
A blood orange, tea slush sweetened with Canadian maple syrup on a hot summer day
Schuley:
Fresh Taro & Brown Sugar
Sip The Sunrise:
I love sunrises because they remind me that the sun always rises everyday and casts out the darkness! So in life how it’s hopeful. As a drink, maybe something that is layered dark oolong or wintermelon tea with something light like milk foam with the yellow/clear colored tapiocas?
Senaida Ng:
I am inspired by the small and seemingly mundane, but beautiful things in life such as nature. As a songwriter, I try to create beauty in the things that are often unnoticed.
Canvi:
What inspires me is my dragon boat team, Liquid Assets. Before I started university, I would have never dreamed of being an “athlete”. Joining Liquid Assets totally changed my mindset and made me realize that I had a lot more potential than I thought I did. Not only did I make physical gains, I’ve met so many strong, kind, funny, loving and inspiring people that I can honestly call family. Now as a trainer for my team, it brings me so much joy to see our recruits progress in the gym, and dedicate their time and effort to the team. Seeing this transformation happen in them inspires me to make myself stronger and better as well.
It would be an honour to have the opportunity to create a drink that represents Liquid Assets.
Janine:
My inspiration comes from from my profession in chemistry. It’s very interesting to observe how things can change with just simple reactions. It’s a big misconception that chemistry is all about dangerous chemicals. In truth, chemistry is literally everywhere! I think it would be fun to see it in a drink, like one that changes colour from adjusting acidity.
Jolly Chang:
What inspires me is music and art. The colours that you can create an put on paper are never the same and always different with each piece, with music each song paints a different image in your head, just like bubble tea. Both are ways used to express yourself and may bring up notes of nostalgia; taro bubble tea reminds me of my childhood. I can imagine using colour palettes from nature to create a crisp autumn afternoon. I think these techniques can be applied to the look and taste of bubble tea.
Francesca:
Teaching in Shanghai last year really opened up my eyes to the possibilities of bubble tea on literally every street corner, and then all specializing in something a little different. In the hot summer months, As a treat to the student of the week, I would bring them with me at lunch to grab bubble tea, and then we’d put a whole serving of McDonald’s soft ice cream in it. It was amazing, the kids loved it, I LOVED it. 🙂
Rosanna Lee:
Kale, mint, pina colada slush. The inspiration comes from my favorite summer flavors and my desire to stay healthy (kale) all year round! I don’t eat a lot of vegetables so adding kale into a slush makes perfect sense! I also love mint, pineapple and coconut flavors! They remind me of my favorite alcoholic drink!
Char Ce:
Tea is good for your health. I guess whenever I see people drink tea through social media, or whenever I pass by someone drinking it, it looks very tempting. I’ve been having tea because it makes you feel good inside and out. Tea is like the way to wash out and digest all the waste and dirt in our body. It’s the herbs that heals your inner system. While you’re still young, live healthy. Make sure you Grab the right tea though!
Yang TeaShop:
My inspiration comes from O. Henry, a novelist who wrote the short story “The Gift of the Magi”. The story is about a young couple named Della and Jim who is desperate to find each other the perfect gift with the limited money they have on hand. On Christmas night, Della sold her hair to a nearby hairdresser to buy Jim the perfect gift a platinum pocket watch fob chain for Jim’s watch. When Jim got home he presented Della her present which was an assortment of combs, which is useless now since Della’s hair is shortened. Della then shows Jim the chain she bought for him, to only find out Jim sold his watch to buy Della her ornamental combs. Yang Teashop took this as an inspiration which signifies the couple’s priceless love and are the couple’s love symbolizes being each other’s ‘Cup of Tea’.
